The Headquarters of China Central Television (CCTV) is a 44 storied, 234 m tall building with an unusual shape, described as a three dimensional cranked loop. Rising from a common platform, two towers lean towards each other and eventually merge in a perpendicular, 75 meter cantilever. The building’s primary support is achieved through the irregular grid on its surface, a visible expression of the forces travelling through the tube structure; the smaller the diagonal pattern, the stronger the load and the greater the support. The braced tube structure also gives the building the required robustness to withstand the likely seismic activity in the area and therefore provides an extra level of safety.
Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats (CTBUH) had named CCTV headquarters as the best tall buildings in Asia & Australia 2013
Let’s meet next month with new structure!!!
